The Widdifield Lions Club was formed in 1955
by a group of local individuals who were, for the most part, a cross-section of the leaders of the Township of
Widdifield. Amalgamation of
Widdifield and Ferris into the new City of North Bay took place on January 01, 1968.
The Widdifield Lions Club is part of Region 17N within Lions District
A-5, which is commonly referred to as Northeastern Ontario. Starting at
White River on the West, easterly through to the Ottawa River/Quebec border at Temiscaming and Mattawa, north to Moosonee, south to Kearney,
and all of Manitoulin Island.
This entire district is comprised of approximately 3000 members spread throughout a total of some 95 Lions, Lioness, and Leo Clubs.
Over the years, the Widdifield Lions Club has made significant impact on numerous local endeavors,
some visible to all such as the vans supplied to the CNIB and Crimestoppers,
"Yag Laser" for eyesight correction at the hospital, seeing-eye
dogs, and our on-going participation in local parades. There has
been tremendous dollar amounts spent to assist needy individuals of our community, in all cases
done privately and quietly. The records of the club show that in excess of $1,000,000.00 has been distributed since inception, to a multitude of
worthy service projects.
The Widdifield Lions Club is proud to be active as a partner in solutions of the needs of our
community.
